Donnabell Smoker
Donnabell Smoker, 91, Goshen, died Monday afternoon, March 7, 2016, at the Maples at Waterford Crossing.
She was born Sept. 13, 1924, in New Paris to John and Marie (Hepler) Smith. On Aug. 16, 1945, she married Byron Smoker at First Brethren Church, New Paris. He died July 18, 2007.
Survivors include two children: Doug (Sara) Smoker, Goshen; Nancy (Donn) Huber, New Paris; son-in-law: Fred Schrock, Mishawaka; four grandchildren: Phillip (Jennifer) Smoker; Timothy (Michelle) Smoker; Sarah (Ross) Beehler; and Stephen (Kayla) Huber; and 14 great-grandchildren. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter: Ann Shrock; a brother: Kenneth Smith; and a sister: mary Rock.
A lifelong area resident, Mrs. Smoker was a homemaker and member of New Paris Missionary Church. She enjoyed spending time with family and grandchildren and collecting antiques. A special joy was spending time at her home in the Bahamas.
Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 10, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the 10 a.m. funeral service Friday, March 11, at New Paris Missionary Church, New Paris. Pastor David Hackney will officiate. Burial will follow in New Paris Cemetery.
