WINONA LAKE – Grace outfielder Sam Heim was named the Crossroads League Player of the Week on Monday.

The speedy sophomore, playing her first season with the Lady Lancers, hit .500 last week, ripping off 14 hits in eight games. She had a double, triple and seven runs scored for Grace.

Heim had a hit in every game and batted .500 against both No. 10 St. Xavier and No. 15 Davenport. She was a perfect 5-for-5 on stolen base attempts and did not commit a fielding error.

Monday’s announcement is the first Player of the Week award for Heim and also Grace’s first of the year.

The Lady Lancers (6-8) kick off the league season on March 15 at Huntington. Grace’s home opener is on March 21 against Purdue North Central.
