‘The Gallery At Glam’ Dedicated To Memory Of Charlie and Scott Smith
WARSAW — The second floor at Glam, 212 S. Buffalo St., Warsaw, has been renovated, not only to expand the business but to dedicate the area in memory of Charlie Smith and Scott Smith, father and brother of owner Michelle Smith LeDrew. The Gallery at Glam will feature special occasion, prom and cocktail dresses and evening jewelry and accessories.
A ribbon cutting with a prayer/dedication and champagne toast was held at 5:30 p.m. Friday, March 4, with approximately 70 invited guests attending.
The renovation began over a month ago by LeDrew with help from Ron Johnson and others to transform the second floor space.
“One-third of the space will remain storage, but the other two-thirds will feature two additional fitting rooms, a small lounge area,” stated LeDrew. The space will also display a variety of special occasion attire and evening accessories.
“It was always my goal to expand into the upper level in my second year of business. I just wasn’t sure what products to bring in. Through conversations with my existing clientele, it became evident there is a need in our community for special occasion dressing — prom, wedding, cocktail and everything in between. I also intend on providing professional styling services,” said LeDrew.
She launched her own business over four years ago in the Washington, D.C./Northern Virginia area, and with the support of her mother, Becky Smith, she brought that service to Warsaw two years ago. “The new space will allow for me to consult with clients in a luxurious space.”
The Gallery of Glam is not just any space selling attire and accessories. The area has included a lot of touches “personally important to me,” said LeDrew during a brief, yet emotional speech at the ribbon cutting. A collage of her father and brother will be a part of the gallery and in each of the fitting rooms, a quote from each of them can be found hanging on the wall. As the client walks down the stairway, a tribute to Notre Dame hangs, just as a similar one hangs above the doorway coming out of the tunnel. Instead of “Play Like A Champion,” LaDrew has hung a sign stating “Dress Like A Champion.”
Scott Lennox gave the champagne toast noting The Gallery Of Glam “is a wonderful new addition to downtown Warsaw,” wishing LeDrew and her children great success and “Warsaw is better for it.”
Amie Nelson, co-owner of The Repurpose Room, provided the dedication prayer.
