Two More Arrested In Michigan City Animal Abuse Case
LAPORTE COUNTY — Two more arrests have been made in connection with the animal abuse case that began on Christmas Day 2015.
Back in February, 2016 U.S. Marshals arrested Richard Cope in El Paso, Texas. Cope was charged with a felony of torturing an animal, after police say he broke two legs on his pit bull puppy and taped the dog’s mouth shut.
Caregivers named the dog “Chance,” and say despite his horrific background, Chance is doing very well.
The LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office alleges that Roger Holiday and Danielle Brown assisted Cope in fleeing and hiding from police.
Holiday, of Auburn, Indiana, was taken into custody on Tuesday. Holiday was arrested by United States Marshals on one count of assisting a criminal, a level 6 felony and one count of False Informing, a class A misdemeanor.
Holiday was arrested without incident and is currently lodged in the Steuben County, Indiana jail awaiting extradition to La Porte County. He is expected to be brought back by La Porte County Sheriff’s Deputies on Friday.
