Ritenour Defrauds Government, Arrested
WARSAW — Cheyenne D. Ritenour, 36, 1829 Nye St., Warsaw, has been arrested on a charge of welfare fraud, a class C felony. Documents state he received $14,394 in unemployment compensation benefits he was not entitled.
Documents filed in Kosciusko Superior Court 1 on Oct. 26, by Indiana Department of Workforce Development Investigator Monica Portillo, states around June 9, 2009, RItenour applied for unemployment compensation benefits in Larwill, reporting he had been laid off. He began receiving benefits of $314 per week starting June 13, 2009, and continued to file for and receive weekly benefits through June 7, 2014. He did file a change of address to Warsaw, on Dec. 31, 2009.
Portillo alleges Ritenour submitted weekly vouchers certifying he remained unemployed with no earnings, and/or failed to accurately report the amount of full or part-time wages. On March 11, 2015, Portillo inspected payroll records relating to Ritenour. Weekly earnings from Gulf Stream Coach, Inc.; Personnel Source Inc.; Forest River Inc.; Heartland Recreational Vehicles LLC; Open Range RV Corporation; Staffmark Investment LLC; Dutchmen International Inc.; Keystone RV Company; and DS Corp., were checked corresponding to the weeks in which he received benefits. His earnings were certified by officials from these companies.
According to Portillo, Ritenour did not report his earnings from those companies and falsely certified to the IDWD that he was unemployed during the weeks of Nov. 6, 2010 through June 7, 2014.
He is being held in the Kosciusko County Jail on $10,000 surety and $250 cash bond.
