WGU Indiana and Beacon Credit Union Partner to Offer Tuition Discount
INDIANAPOLIS— (March 2, 2016) WGU Indiana, the state’s online university, has signed an agreement with Beacon Credit Union to provide tuition discounts to its employees.
Under terms of the new agreement, Beacon Credit Union employees will receive a five-percent tuition discount at WGU Indiana for up to four six-month terms. The discount applies to both master’s and bachelor’s degree programs in the areas of business and information technology.
Beacon Credit Union CEO Kevin Willour and his senior management team recognize the importance of offering continuing education benefits to their employees. Education and training increase employee satisfaction and engagement, leading to improved job performance and service to Beacon members.
“Our employees are driven, dedicated individuals who will greatly benefit from the educational opportunities WGU Indiana presents,” said Lori Eltzroth, CAO. “We are happy to invest in their future by making degree attainment a realistic goal with this partnership.”
“WGU Indiana’s flexible, affordable, online model is perfect for busy, working adults such as the employees at Beacon Credit Union. We applaud the company for making higher education a priority, which we have seen leads to more satisfied, engaged employees,” said WGU Indiana chancellor Allison Barber.
Tuition at WGU Indiana has not increased since its inception in 2010 and is charged at a flat rate of $6,000 a year. Scholarships are also available for all four colleges.
WGU Indiana’s innovative, competency-based education mode measures learning rather than the time a student spends in a classroom seat. Students earn their degrees by demonstrating mastery of subject matter, completing coursework online at any time convenient to their lives. Designed to meet the needs of adult learners, competency-based education allows students to take advantage of prior learning and experience to move quickly through material they already know so they can focus on what they still need to learn.
