Tippecanoe Township Changes Bring Progress
NORTH WEBSTER — Tippecanoe Township government is moving forward with changes.
North Webster-Tippecanoe Township Emergency Medical Services has moved its headquarters from the Tippecanoe Township Building, 102 S. Morton St., North Webster, to the North Webster-Tippecanoe Township Fire Department location.
This is a permanent relocation in line with the township’s five-year plan. A remodel of the fire station will add two bedrooms and another bathroom upstairs at the fire department. The result will be quicker service and more complete coverage to the public.
The merger of the EMS and fire departments under the supervision of Fire Chief Jeremy Likens was previously announced last fall. Cody Manges has the joint position of EMS chief of operations and firefighter. The move brings two full time certified paramedics and firefighters on duty every weekday to the community.
ISO
Also, according to Township Trustee Steve Ward, North Webster-Tippecanoe Township Fire Department and EMS has received an ISO rating of class six. This is an improvement from the previous rating of seven and homeowners will see it reflected in a possible reduction of insurance premiums.
This applies to an area five road miles out from the fire station. Those with questions regarding the change should contact Likens at (574) 834-7676.
ISO is a New Jersey-based advisory organization serving the property and casualty insurance industry by providing inspection services, insurance coverage form development and statistical service.
ISO classifies communities from one (the best) to 10 (the worst) based on how well they score on the ISO Fire Suppression Rating Schedule, which grades such features as water distribution, fire department equipment and manpower and fire alarm facilities.
ISO field representatives use the schedule when surveying a community’s fire protection capability. The score that is determined from applying the fire suppression rating schedule is translated into a public protection classification.
