WARSAW — The Lee Anne Stewart Fusion Dance Team recently participated in DanceMakers Regional Competition and Convention, Indianapolis.
Dancers take classes from nationally renowned choreographers in contemporary, lyrical, tap, ballet and hip hop styles. Instructors stress the importance of technique, poise and etiquette. Another focus is the importance of nutrition and healthy body image.
The dance teams competed in a total of 20 dances. All Lee Anne Stewart Dance entries scored first or second place in their divisions and qualified the dancers for the June national competition in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Special recognition was given to several of the pieces. “You Say,” a duo by Reagan Koble and Gabrielle Fiscus, received a judges choice award, as did, “Colors of the Wind,” by the Sparks Fusion team, “King of New York,” by the Inferno Fusion team and “Strongest Suit,” a small group piece by Chloe Boggs, Bronwyn Bonner, Kelsey Harper and Julia Wingard.
The large group piece, “Festival of the Lion King,” which includes all 39 Fusion Dance team members, received the highest score of all participants in their division and received a best-in-category designation.
All Lee Anne Stewart dancers at the Warsaw, Syracuse and Nappanee studios continue to work on their dance skills and show pieces in preparation for June performances.
Lee Anne Stewart dance shows take place the second and third weekends in June at Warsaw Performing Arts Center. Tickets will be available beginning in March.
