Cougars Rally To Earn Victory
SOUTH BEND – A big second-half effort earned the Lakeland Christian Academy boys basketball team a win Thursday night.
The Cougars erased an eight-point halftime deficit in rallying past South Bend Career Academy by a 58-55 final.
Josh McDaniel had a big night to help LCA collect its second win of the season and also snap a seven-game losing streak. McDaniel scored eight of his game-high 18 points in the final quarter for the Cougars.
LCA trailed 18-10 after the opening period of play at 33-25 at halftime Thursday night. The Cougars cut the deficit to 43-42 after the third quarter before outscoring the hosts 16-12 in the final frame to notch the win.
Carter Twombly scored 14 points and Connor Blum netted 11 for LCA in the victory. Jon Harmon had seven points to go with 10 rebounds and four assists. McDaniel had six assists and hit four treys and Noah Twombly grabbed five rebounds.
The Cougars hit seven treys in the win.
LCA plays at South Bend Community Baptist on Tuesday night. The Cougars then host Oregon-Davis on Feb. 18 and Howe on Feb. 23 to wrap up the regular season.
South Bend Career Academy, now 3-15, hosts Howe on Wednesday night.
