Vikings Fall To Braves In OT
BUNKER HILL – The Tippecanoe Valley boys basketball team pushed Maconaquah to overtime Tuesday night.
The host Braves responded in the extra session to nip the Vikings by a 64-59 final in Three Rivers Conference action.
Valley outscored the Braves 17-14 in the fourth quarter to rally to tie the game at 54-54. Maconaquah then outscored the Vikings 10-5 in the extra frame for the TRC win.
Alec Craig led the way for the Vikings with 16 points.
Gavin Bussard and Jarod Duzenbery each finished with 13 points for Valley. Neil Clampitt added 12 for coach Bill Patrick’s team. Clampitt grabbed a team-high eight rebounds and Duzenbery snared six caroms.
Chandler Pitts tossed in 24 points and Wyatt Hughes had 21 on 8-11 shooting from the field to lead the winners.
Valley hit 25-55 shots from the field, but were just 4-19 from 3-point range. The Vikings were 5-7 from the free throw line.
Maconaquah shot 26-49 overall from the field, including just 2-10 from distance. The Braves were 10-14 from the line in the win.
Valley drops to 6-12 overall and goes to 4-4 in the TRC. Maconaquah improves to 9-8 overall and to 6-1 in league play.
Valley won the junior varsity game by a 44-27 final.
Valley hosts North Miami and Maconaquah plays at Southwood Friday night.
