Five Area Divers Headed To State
MISHAWAKA – A trio of Northridge divers and Concord’s finest all qualified Tuesday night for the IHSAA State Finals.
Northridge’s Rylee Dahlman won her first regional tournament, defeating teammates Mary Grossman and Sara Troyer by the slimmest of margins – 462.45-462.20-460.05 – as the three claimed the top three spots to sweep the regional held at Mishawaka High School.
Concord’s Lauren Boone was fifth in the scoring with 409.80, returning to the state finals. Boone, the top diver to ever dive at Concord, finished 12th last season at the state finals while Troyer was the only Raider to dive at last year’s finals, finishing 25th.
South Bend Riley’s Angelique Wise was the other area diver to qualify for state, taking sixth at 399.50.
The top eight divers from Mishawaka qualify for the state finals, to be held in Indianapolis starting Saturday morning with dive prelims. The finals will take place later in the day.
Other area divers at the regional included Reina Carroll of Culver Academy (12, 312.60), Morgan Tyler of Rochester (14, 203.60), Emma Marlatt of St. Joe (16, 199.65), Megan Mrozinski of St. Joe (17, 193.15), Georgia Cleveland of Culver Academy (19, 184.25) and Belle Beeson of Bremen (20, 180.05).
