LCA Loses Back-To-Back Contests
WINONA LAKE – Lakeland Christian Academy lost a pair of home boys basketball games Friday and Saturday. Lakewood Park Christian took care of LCA Friday night in a 68-39 result and Fort Wayne Smith Academy stopped in to LCA Saturday and came away with a 64-57 win.
In Friday night’s contest, Connor Blum paced the Cougars with 14 points while Jon Harmon finished with seven points and five rebounds. LPC raced out to a 21-10 lead after eight minutes and ballooned its lead to 21 by halftime. Every player for LPC made a basket, and were paced by Keegan Fetters’ 18 points.
The JV contest went to LCA in a 49-37 final.
In Saturday’s contest, LCA held a 47-45 lead heading into the final quarter, only for Smith to rally in a big way in the fourth quarter. Smith Academy outscored LCA 21-12 in the last eight minutes, hitting 13-18 free throws down the stretch. Aubrey Griggs dropped in 23 total points to pace Smith.
LCA had a season-high 24 points from Josh McDaniel. Jon Harmon added in 14 points and nine boards while Connor Blum tossed in 10 points.
In overtime, the Smith Academy JV bested LCA 48-40.
The Cougars are on a seven-game skid and sit at 1-18 overall, looking to rebound Thursday at South Bend Career Academy.
