Invite Provides Good Test For Local Gymnasts
LAGRANGE — The Wawasee and Warsaw gymnastics teams traveled east for one of the season’s biggest events, the Lakeland Invitational Saturday
It was a preview of the sectional field that will be at Wawasee High School in just a few weeks, with the addition of Carroll, and the Warriors and Tigers fared well in the event.
Elkhart Central won the event with a score of 105.00 while Carroll (104.425) took second. DeKalb (103.65) placed third while Wawasee was fourth with a score of 102.55. Warsaw placed seventh in the 12-team field with a score of 92.25.
Reagan Atwood and Jada Parzygnot led Wawasee in the all-around. Atwood placed fourth with a 35.4 while Parzygnot placed fifth with a 35.05. Carroll’s Jillian Hoffmann won the all-around with a 36.025. Hayley Campbell was Warsaw’s highest all-around score at 31.075.
Atwood was fifth on vault (8.75), seventh on bars (8.45), third on beam (9.25), and 10th on floor (8.95).
Parzygnot won the floor event with a score of 9.45. The freshman was tied for 10th on vault (8.45) and fourth on beam (9.05).
Remi Beckham led Warsaw on vault with a score of 8.45, tying for 10th. Beckham also led the Tigers on bars with a 7.45. A 7.55 led Warsaw on beam, earned by Anna Wainscott. Campbell’s floor score of 8.525 was tops for the Tigers.
Wawasee will host Elkhart Central Thursday evening while Warsaw travels to Plymouth for a meet with the Pilgrims and Logansport.
