Ruth E. Hoffer
Ruth E. Hoffer passed away at 5:10 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw. She was 62.
Ruth was born to Frank DeVon and Dorothy Elizabeth (Hershberger) Hoffer June 27, 1953, in Warsaw.
Ruth was a 1971 graduate of Mentone High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in criminal justice through Indiana University South Bend. Ruth lived most of her life in South Bend, where she was a supervisor for DFCS (Department of Family and Children Services) and later a supervisor at South Bend Juvenile Justice Center. She also taught at Brown Mackie College, all in South Bend.
Ruth loved to fish and was an avid reader. She was a huge Notre Dame Women’s Basketball fan.
She is survived by a brother: Chad Hoffer, Warsaw; sister-in-law: Jan Hoffer; niece: Kerri Hoffer; and great-niece: Kami Malone, all of Dallas, Texas.
She is preceded by her father: Frank D. Hoffer, on May 26, 2015; mother: Dorothy E. Hoffer, on Aug. 8, 2015; and brother: John Hoffer, on Feb. 21, 1973.
According to Ruth’s wishes there will be no visitation or service.
The family has asked that memorial gifts in Ruth’s memory go to Animal Welfare League of Kosciusko County, Warsaw.
