Pierceton Talks Parcels
PIERCETON — The Pierceton town council met last night, Wednesday, Feb. 3, for an administrative meeting.
The only ones present for the meeting were members of the council, although, the meeting was open to the public.
Jerry Kreger, clerk/treasurer, stated that the meeting was informal and informational.
The topic of the meeting was concerning a 4.4 acre tract of land the town of Pierceton owns that an investor is interested in purchasing for a housing development.
The parcel of land was purchased by the town sometime in the mid-90s for the purpose of building a wastewater treatment facility, but never realized due to costs.
The land is on SR 13 across from the new elementary school that is located at 434 S. 1st St.
The council is not sure when they will have definitive answers about the purchase of the property. The meeting last night was held to discuss the possibilities of selling, what amount they could sell for and what legal “hoops” they would be required to jump through.
The next town meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 8.
