Argos Pulls Mild Upset At Triton
BOURBON – Argos left The Trench Thursday night with a stunning 41-29 boys basketball win over Triton.
Triton had won six of its last seven games, but couldn’t find the bottom of the bucket against the Dragons. The Trojans shot just 26 percent (10-38) in the game and shot a miserable 25 percent (4-16) from behind the three-point line.
Triton had kept the game close despite its shooting woes, trailing by just five heading into the final eight minutes. But the Trojans managed just three points in the final quarter, sending the team to an 11-6 overall mark.
Argos improves to 9-8 overall, ending a 12-game losing streak to Triton. The Dragons were led by the 18 points and five rebounds from Javan Miller and 10 points from Tyler Horn.
Triton had Jarrett Kreft pace the squad with 11 points. Grant Johnson added four points and seven offensive rebounds. Triton as a team had just three defensive rebounds but 12 off the offensive glass.
The loss for Triton also denies Jason Groves his 200th win, stuck at 199-64 overall.
Triton’s JV beat Argos 39-35, led by Caden Marr’s 11 points and eight points from Drew Stichter. Jonah Osborn led the Dragons with 11 points.
Both clubs will see Caston (6-11) in the next week, Triton Saturday night at Caston and Argos Tuesday at home.
