Family Seeks Help For 27-Year-Old Woman With Heart Failure
WARSAW — Katy Bowser, 27, North Webster, mother of two girls and fiancé of Dwayne Cooper, was in a coma at Lutheran Hospital just days ago.
On Tuesday, Jan. 26, Bowser was at work when said she felt weird and that the left side of her body was “tingly.” She drove herself to Kosciusko Community Hospital that night. From there she was transported to Lutheran hospital.
While at Lutheran, Bowser suffered a heart attack and was put on ventilation as her body went into a coma.
According to Bowser’s family, doctors stated because Bowser had two heart attacks, and possibly a third, her body cannot take another resuscitation. It was reported that Bowser’s heart attacks had left her with only 10 percent of her heart functioning. The family was given “do not resuscitate” papers to fill out.
Five days later Bowser was awake, off ventilation and able to communicate with her family by writing notes. It was reported that she was doing well. Though things seemed to be improving, the improvement proved to be temporary. The next day, Feb. 1, Boswer’s heart is reportedly only functioning at five percent and she was put back on ventilation.
Bower’s fiancé has been off work and by her side since she was admitted into the hospital. He says he won’t be leaving until she does. Because there is no income coming into the home at the moment, her family has set up a Go Fund Me account to help with bills so, “Katy won’t come home to an overwhelming, amount of bills,” her step-sister stated.
The family has raised $880 of the $1,500 asked. For more information or to make a donation, visit the GoFundMe site.
