Maurice E. Morrison
Maurice E. Morrison, 79, Leesburg, passed away at 12:10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
On Feb. 29, 1936, he was born in Pierceton to Walter and Irene (Froh) Morrison. A lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, he was former owner of Roto Rooter of Kosciusko County, where he served for 45 years.
He served our country in the US Army Airborne for ten years from 1955 – 1965 honorably discharged as a Sgt (E-5) and then served in the US Air Force Reserve for two and a half years. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Pierceton; Pierceton Masonic Lodge, F and AM #377, Scottish Rite, Fort Wayne Valley, Mizpah Shrine Temple, North Webster American Legion Post #253, Pierceton Volunteer Fire Department and Pierceton Police Department, where he served for ten years.
Maurice is survived by his son: Michael (Jenny) Morrison, Goshen; two sisters: Wanda (Charles) Thurman, Chattanooga, Tenn.; and Connie Kehoe, Warsaw; four grandchildren: Emily and Amanda Morrison; Brian Morrison; Maureen Morrison; and his caregiver: Star Prout, North Webster. He was preceded in death by his son: Maurice Morrison II; and his brother: Carl Morrison.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 4, in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Chaplain Bob Jarboe, Kosciusko County Homecare and Hospice officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton, at a later date.
Memorial contributions in Maurice’s memory may be made to Kosciusko County Cancer Care Fund, care of K21 Health Foundation, Warsaw.
