Welcome “Tater” D. Warren
Welcome “Tater” D. Warren, 80, of Bourbon, passed away Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016, at home with his family at his side after a lengthy illness.
Tater was born Nov. 11, 1935, at Tippecanoe, to Russell D. and Nora A. (Hall) Warren and was a resident of the Bourbon and Tippecanoe area all his life. He attended Tippecanoe High School.
He was a truck driver for Teledyne Company of which he retired in 1995. Before that he had driven truck for many trucking companies. He enjoyed fishing, golf and having coffee at the local restaurants with anyone who would visit and share stories. He was a transporter for the Amish and their families, he enjoyed his annual trucker’s convention and his family. Tater was also a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rites Shrine of Fort Wayne, Bourbon American Legion #424, Plymouth Moose Lodge and Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #130 as an associate member. Tater also attended the Tippecanoe Community Church.
He served in the United States Army from Feb. 17, 1954 thru Nov. 18, 1955.
On Oct. 19, 1957, he joined in marriage to Janet Thomas, she survives along with his three children; Amy Wells, Bourbon; Jackie (Terry) Treesh, Etna Green; Jess Warren, Bourbon; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; three sisters: Catherine Poole, Mentone; Ilene Bessinger, Plymouth; Esther Berger, Plymouth; his brother: Jesse (Betty) Warren, Knoxville, Tenn. Also surviving is his dog “Scamper.”
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Dewayne and Dale.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, at Tippecanoe Community Church, 2940 18B Road, Tippecanoe, IN 46570. Funeral services will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the church with Pastor George Shoemaker officiating. Burial will be in Summit Chapel Cemetery, Bourbon, with Military Honors.
