Tim Hawkins To Appear At The Honeywell Center
WABASH — Singer/songwriter, author, comedian and “jackwagon,” the multi-talented Tim Hawkins will be at the Honeywell Center 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 4.
Hawkins’ style of clean comedy is for the whole family. He says he takes things from every day life and incorporates it into his act,
“The more true it is, the funnier it is,” stated Hawkins in an interview with InkFreeNews.
Hawkins is called a Christian comedian, which used to bother him because he says “he’s a comedian who happens to be a Christian.”
“Would you call a plumber, who happened to be Christian, a Christian plumber or is he just a plumber?” asked Hawkins.
Hawkins doesn’t let it bother him anymore because he says, “No matter what you do it’s human nature to want to categorize people.”
Hawkins was once categorized as a jackwagon via Twitter message, but had no idea what it meant. When he looked it up he found it meant someone was “useless.” Hawkins wasn’t offended by this though. Instead, it inspired him to write a book called “Diary of a Jackwagon.” In it he talks about life as a jackwagon and explains how he comes up with material for his show.
With the ability to play several instruments; guitar, piano, bass, drums, harmonica and yes, the Indian wood flute, the singer/songwriter once had aspirations of becoming a “rockstar.” That dream didn’t come true because he said, “My mom was having no part of it and wouldn’t let me take guitar lessons because it was back in the day when it was believed to be ‘devil music.’”
The well of talent doesn’t stop with comedy, music or writing, Hawkins also has acting ability. In 2014 Hawkins appeared as “Uncle Ben” in an independent film called Mercy Rule with Kirk Cameron. Hawkins enjoys acting and wants to do more. He says that one day when he finds the time he’d like to write the screenplay and star in his own film, but for now he’s sticking with comedy.
