Edith L. ‘Edie’ Barker Harper Franklin
Edith L. “Edie” Barker Harper Franklin, 85, Rochester, and formerly Silver Lake and Akron passed at 11:20 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2016, at Woodlawn Hospital of Rochester.
She was born on Sept. 17, 1930, in Argos, Marshall County, to Irvin and Hazel (Coutler) Barker. She was married on Aug. 29, 1948 in Rochester to Paul P.A. Harper, he preceded in 1987. She then married on Feb. 15, 1998, to George Franklin, who preceded on Nov. 23, 2015.
She worked at Harvey’s Dime Store, Thermos Gas, Fashion Dress Store, Bounsall Shoes, and managed the Senior Center in Silver Lake. She was a 1948 graduated of Richland Center High School. She attended the Akron Church of God for over 60 years. She enjoyed traveling to Branson and Pigeon Forge.
Survivors include daughter: Jeannine M. Harper, Rochester; son: Daniel Harper, Rochester; stepdaughter: Joyce (David) Pike, Anderson; stepsons: Harry (DyAnne) Franklin, Davidson, Mich.; Mike (Susie) Franklin, Anderson; 11 step-grandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; two brothers; and two sisters.
Visitation hours are from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, at the Akron Church of God, Akron, followed by the 11 a.m. service Saturday, also at the Akron Church of God. Burial will be at Citizens Cemetery, Rochester. Hartzler Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
