Lowell D. ‘Red’ DeRossett
Lowell D. “Red” DeRossett, 74, Leesburg, passed away at 2:13 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016, in Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.
On May 12, 1941, he was born in Lancer, Ky. to Henry and Lizzie (Herd) DeRossett. He was united in marriage to Cheryl Pollock in Warsaw on July of 1979, who survives.
Lowell lived most of his life in Pierceton until moving to Leesburg. He served our country in the U.S. Army from 1959 – 1962. He worked as a CNC Machinist for Zimmer, Inc., where he retired in 1996. He was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church, Crossville, Tenn. and also American legion Post #258, Pierceton. He loved riding his Harley and playing music.
Lowell is survived by his wife of 35 years: Cheryl DeRossett, Leesburg; four children: Lesa (fiancé Christopher Bragan) Gray, Warsaw; Laura (Joe) Coonce, Seattle, Wash.; Wendy (companion Clarence Taylor) Rantz, Mishawaka; and Thomas (companion Morgan Chilafoe) DeRossett; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews; nieces; and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents; son: David DeRossett; brother: Gene DeRossett; two sisters: Ruth Ousley; Ann Hughes.
A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw with military honors by American Legion Post #258, Pierceton. Visitation hours will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Pierceton.
