Delp Delivers In LCA Hoops Win
WHITESTOWN – The Lakeland Christian Academy girls basketball team made the long bus ride well worth it on Saturday.
The Cougars defeated host Traders Point Christian Academy 47-40.
The hosts led 9-5 after the opening period and the game was tied at 19-19 at halftime. LCA outscored Traders Point 16-11 in the third period to take a 35-30 lead en route to the win.
Hannah Delp had a big game for the Cougars as she poured in a game-high 21 points.
Rachel Sand was key as well with 14 points and seven rebounds for the winners.
Ellie Nieveen and Brady Gross each had four points and five rebounds for LCA. Melissa Goss scored two points and Maddie Paris and Carissa Urschalitz each had one point for the Cougars.
LCA improves to 12-10 on the season under first-year coach Allison Kauffman. Traders Point drops to 4-12.
The Cougars play at Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian on Thursday night in their regular-season finale. Traders Point plays at Indy Arlington on Monday night.
