Local Third-Graders Head To The Circus
WARSAW — Wailing sirens pierced the frigid air as dozens of emergency vehicles sped east on US 30, toward Fort Wayne.
There was no emergency, however. Rather, the police, fire and EMT vehicles were escorting 850 third-graders from Warsaw Community School Corporation and Wawasee School Corporation to the annual Mizpah Shrine Circus in Fort Wayne.
Students from Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation, Akron/Mentone, and Triton School Corporation, Bourbon, also attended and joined the caravan down the road.
Busses from Warsaw Community Schools rendezvoused in the Big R parking lot in Warsaw. School officials provided coffee and donuts to waiting police, fire and EMS personnel and Shriners as they awaited the students’ arrival.
“We’re just so thankful to all of the officers, EMTs and firefighters,” Hoffert said. “Coffee and a few donuts is one way to say thank you.”
