James Carl McKinney
James Carl McKinney, 72, Warsaw passed away Sunday, Jan. 17, at Mason’s Healthcare. He was born on Feb. 22, 1943, in Ky. to Orville and Opal McKinney. On May 2, 1980, he married Judy Hamilton; she preceded him on Nov. 17, 2003.
Carl enjoyed playing poker, watching wrestling, going to the races and drove a stock car at Warsaw Speedway in the 70’s. He enjoyed working on cars and passed that on to his son. He managed Graceland Village Mobile Home Park in Warsaw for several years during the 90’s. He enjoyed playing horse shoes and corn hole with his grandchildren. Carl was easy going and always had a good sense of humor about things.
Carl is survived by his companion: Glendeane Gayheart, Claypool; a son: James McKinney Jr., Warsaw; a daughter: April (Rodger) Berry, Warsaw; daughter: Clistie (Jim) Hoskins, Claypool; daughter: Michelle (Jeff) Puckett, Mentone; daughter: Mary (Scott) Lampkin, Warsaw; and Lois Ann (Rick) Burgess, Prestonburg, Ky.; 18 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters: Helen (Duane) Ledbetter, Warsaw; Donna Sue Sturgill, Ky.; and Sylvia Ramey, Ky. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother: Charles ‘Jr.” McKinney; two sisters: Avanell Frasure; and Juanita Daniels; and grandson: Kaleb Lampkin.
A celebration of Carl’s life will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, at Warsaw Wesleyan Church, Reverend Andrew Weaver will be officiating the service. There will be a time of visitation with the family one hour prior to the service. A private family interment in Oakwood Cemetery will be at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be given to the family. Heritage Funeral and Cremation Services are in charge of arrangements.
