Lila Jane ‘Jennie’ Mays
Lila Jane ‘Jennie’ Mays, 77, of Winamac, passed away at 12:56 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, 2016 at We Belong Senior Home in Plymouth.
She was born Oct. 1, 1938, in Kewanna, to Ralph and Helen Summers Kough.
Jennie loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was ecstatic when her great grandchildren were born. Jennie was a former bartender at the VFW in Winamac, She also worked as a sales clerk at the Bottle Shop in Winamac She retired in 2000. Jennie spent much of her time reading and working crossword puzzles. She spent most of her time caring for her cats. Jennie will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include: a daughter: Jennifer L. (Bruce) Adamski, Winamac; a son: Jerry Thomas “J.T.” (Laura) Mays II, Winamac; seven grandchildren: Scott Benzing, Sydney Richards, Theresa Patty, Shaun R. (Molly) Cotner, Ryan E. Cotner, Kyle W. Cotner, Jerri L. (Chris) Klein; three great-grandchildren: Megan Patty, Kaden Klein, and Jerad Klein; a sister: Becky (John) Bruce, Winamac; two great-nieces: Megan Ingram and Michaela Ingram.
Preceded in death by: her father: Ralph Kough; her mother: Helen Margaret Summers Kough; grandson: Jerad A. Mays; niece: Lisa Ingram; sister and brother-in-law: Debra M. and Don Stigen; and aunt: Bonnie Summers Johnson.
Memorial Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 18, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac, with Rev. Anthony Wagner officiating.
Burial of cremains will take place in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Lake Bruce, at a later date.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 17, 2016 at Frain Mortuary and one hour prior to services Monday.
