Take The ‘Plunge’ To Support Indiana Special Olympics
WARSAW — An exciting, albeit chilly, community favorite event will soon be returning to Kosciusko County. The annual Polar Plunge will take place at 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, at the Center Lake Pavilion.
To participate in the event, individuals must each raise $75 in pledges. All funds raised by the event benefit the Special Olympics Indiana.
The first step to “take the plunge” is to visit www.polarplungeIN.org where those interested can register for the event. After registering, participants are asked to collect pledges or create an online personal fundraising page through the registration process. Guests are asked to be sure to bring their pledges the day of the event and a copy of their online fundraising totals.
If you can’t take the chilly plunge never fear. A virtual option is available for those still wishing to support the cause. To submit a tax deductible check, visit www.polarplungeIN.org or register to become a virtual plunger.
Plungers will be able to win several prizes for best costume, largest group, most money raised by an individual and most money raised by a team. A team is comprised of a minimum of 10 members who wish to plunge together. Groups with less members are still eligible, however they will not be able to win the “team” award.
Prizes for raising certain amounts will also be offered. Fundraising goal prizes include a long-sleeved t-shirt at $75; a beach towel at $300-499 dollars; a backpack for those who raise $500 to $999; a hoodie or duffle bag for those who raise $1,000-$1,999; the choice of any two aforementioned items for those who raise $2,000-2,999; and any three items for those who raise over $3,000.
Those wishing to go the extra mile are welcome to participate in the “super plunger” option, where guests are invited to not only raise crucial funds for Special Olympics Indiana athletes, but will also receive great benefits from retailers such as a Coleman 54-quart steel belted cooler.
