LCA Basketball Wrap – Jan. 12
Tuesday night both the boys and girls basketball teams from Lakeland Christian Academy were in action.
The girls picked up its second win in as many days with a 43-35 win at Cornerstone Christian.
Rachel Sand paced the Lady Cougars with 14 points and four steals and chipped in a pair of blocks and rebounds. Hannah Delp, coming off her huge night Monday at Culver, finished with 12 points, four steals, three rebounds and three assists.
Melissa Goss had seven points and nine rebounds to go with five steals and two assists, overcoming 10 turnovers. Carissa Urschalitz bolstered the defense with 10 boards, four steals and a block.
The boys continued to struggle to keep pace with established programs, losing 59-21 to Argos at home.
LCA could not take care of the rock, committing 29 turnovers and forcing the Dragons into just 13 turnovers.
Josh McDaniel was one of just two Cougars to make a field goal Tuesday, hitting three jumpers and a three for nine total points. Jake Harmon hit a three to account for the only other basket for LCA.
Carter and Noah Twombly combined for eight rebounds for LCA.
Javan Miller led the Dragons with 16 points and the duo of Vinny Stone and Cam Andrews each scored 12 points.
Argos won the JV game 58-25.
The LCA ladies move to 11-8 on the season and host Culver Academy Friday while the boys fall to 1-13 and visit Victory Christian Friday night.
