Winter Storm Watch Issued for Kosciusko County and others
NORTHERN INDIANA — The National Weather Service of Northern Indiana has issued a winter weather outlook for Kosciusko County and the following surrounding counties: Marshall, Elkhart, Noble, Whitley, Wabash and Fulton.
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department and Noble County EMA and 911 Center have issued the following statement for their areas:
- A winter storm watch is in effect tonight and Tuesday for areas north of U.S. 6 in Indiana and Michigan.
- Accumulations of 2 to 4 inches are possible tonight from a system snow within the watch area. Another 2 to 5 inches are possible Tuesday from lake effect snow.
- Outside of the watch area, 2 to 3 inches of snow are possible tonight.
- Winds will increase overnight across the entire area. Northwest winds of 20 to 30 mph will create blowing and drifting snow.
- Confidence is high for the 2 to 3 inches of system snow tonight all areas. Confidence is medium to high for the lake effect snow but lower confidence on exact amounts and locations. Thus the watch at this time.
- Roads will become snow-covered, slick and hazardous tonight everywhere.
- Wind chill values will be between zero and 15 below zero at times through Wednesday morning
