Warsaw Man Arrested For Theft, Probation Violation
WARSAW — Virgil R. Dordon, 50, 701. S. Buffalo St., Warsaw, was arrested Friday afternoon, Jan. 8, on theft, class A misdemeanor; conversion, a class A misdemeanor, and probation violation. The theft charge was enhanced due to a previous conviction of conversion on Sept. 30, 2008.
Regarding the theft charge, an affidavit of probable cause was filed Aug. 24, 2015, with Kosciusko Superior Court. The document states at approximately 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, Officer Brian Hupp responded to a possible theft at a local CVS store.
When Hupp arrived at the CVS store he talked to the manager and store clerk. The manager of CVS told Hupp the store’s security alarm was activated when Dordon attempted to leave the store with unpaid alcohol. When Dordon was confronted, he pulled out a second bottle of alcohol, which had been concealed, placing it on a shelf before running out the door.
Using a store surveillance video police identified the suspect as Dordon.
The conversion charge was filed on Sept. 17, after Dordon allegedly left Rex’s Rendezvous without paying a bill of over $11 on Aug. 19.
A charge of probation violation was filed against Dordon on March 2014, while serving time on probation for a conviction of operating a vehicle wile intoxicated. The warrant expired on Sept. 22, 2014, and was reissued on Sept. 24.
According to Dordon’s booking sheet, he is being held on a bond of $5,000 surety and $250 cash on the theft charge, $600 cash bond on the conversion charge, and $10,000 surety bond on the probation violation.
