Warsaw Woman Arrested For Battery Of Minor
WARSAW — A Warsaw woman was arrested mid-December on two counts of battery.
Amika Joyce Bolen, 21, 920 Anchorage Road, Warsaw, was arrested Dec. 19, for a level 6 felony battery on a person less than 14 years and a class A misdemeanor battery resulting in bodily injury.
According to an affidavit of probable cause, filed Jan. 4 with Kosciusko Superior Court, Warsaw, Police Officer Gordon Allen responded to a call regarding a person armed with a knife at the Anchorage Road address. When Allen arrived at the residence and talked to Bolen she directed him to the back bedroom of the home where the suspect, a male under the age of 14 years, was sitting.
According to the affidavit, Bolen and the youth were having a discussion about Bolen’s missing cellphone when Bolen became upset and hit him on the back of the head several times with a closed fist, causing him pain. The youth stated he then picked up a kitchen knife and held it to his side, causing Bolen to stop hitting him.
Allen questioned witnesses at the scene, who verified statements made by Bolen and the minor about the missing cellphone and Bolen becoming upset and striking the youth repeatedly in the back of the head. One witness reportedly stated when the youth picked up the knife, he said to Bolen, “Stop hitting me on the face or else I’m going to use this.” Witnesses also stated she also started flipping over furniture.
Bolen stated she had been to Susie’s Sandbar for a couple of drinks then came home and had the cellphone discussion with the minor. According to the affidavit, Bolen admitted to hitting the youth, but said they were just playing around.
Bolen was held on a $10,000 surety bond with a $250 cash bond.
