Lucille M. Harmon
Lucille M. Harmon, 99, Ontario, Calif., passed away at 6:10 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2015 at her home. Born Nov. 23, 1916 in Whitley County. She was the daughter of Ralph D. and Mabel (Taylor) Yohe.
Mrs. Harmon grew up in Whitley County, graduating from Jefferson Center High School with Class of 1934 and her second diploma from Columbia City High School with Class of 1935. Lucille worked for Blue Bell Factory in Columbia City from 1936 until 1940 and for General Electric in Fort Wayne until 1943. On Nov. 16, 1944, she married John Brazil Harmon in Reno, Nevada after he was out of the service, they moved to Anderson before moving to California in 1952. In 1981 they returned to Indiana and in 1983 moved to South Whitley. After John passed on Oct. 20, 2001, Lucille made the decision to move closer to her daughter in California. She had practiced the art of Yoga for many years.
Survivors include her daughter: Linda Gonzalez of Ontario, Calif.; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren: and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother: Russell D. Yohe.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Monday, Jan. 11, at DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, with her funeral service to follow. Burial at Jefferson Chapel (Sand Bank) Cemetery, Columbia City.
Memorial gifts may be given in Mrs. Harmon’s memory to Jefferson Chapel United Methodist Church.
