Sandra J. ‘Sandy’ (MacPherson) Johnson
SYRACUSE — Sandra J. “Sandy” (MacPherson) Johnson, 85, Syracuse, died 11:29 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 3, 2016 at Miller’s Merry Manor, Syracuse. She was born Feb. 6, 1930, in Fort Wayne, to Roy Powers and Bertha (Lear) MacPherson.
She graduated in 1948 from Glenn H. Curtiss Memorial High School, Hammondsport, N.Y., and attended International Business College of Fort Wayne. On April 22, 1951, she married Billy Joe Johnson. She was formerly employed with Blue Bell, Weatherhead and Precision Plastics, all of Columbia City, and pressed clothes at her home for many years. She moved in 1988 to the Syracuse/Nappanee area. She formerly lived in Columbia City, Warsaw, and Fort Wayne areas.
She was formerly a member of Calvary Temple of Fort Wayne and Church of the Brethren in Syracuse. She enjoyed riding horses when she was young, reading, singing in the church choir, and as a soloist.
She is survived by two daughters: Kellie (Glenn) Laughlin, New Paris, and Janice Monnier, Warsaw. One son: Bruce (Terrie) Johnson, Churubusco. Six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one step-grandchild; and five step-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Roy Johnson, and granddaughter, Nicole Johnson.
Visitation will be from 6–7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Memorial services will follow at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with Pastor Brad Cox of the Wawasee Lakeside Chapel officiating.
Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, Warsaw.
