Ellen Longenbaugh
SYRACUSE — Ellen Longenbaugh, 63, Syracuse, died Jan. 1, 2016, at the Elkhart General Hospital. She was born on April 1, 1952, in Fort Wayne to Harold and Barbara (Downs) Freeman. On June 28, 1975, she married John Longenbaugh.
She was a lifelong Syracuse area resident. She was employed as a dispatcher for Foremost Transport in Goshen. An avid gardener, she was a member of both the Syracuse-Wawasee Gardening Club, as well as the Elkhart County Master Gardeners Club. She was a Ladies Auxiliary member of both the Syracuse VFW and Legion.
She is survived by her husband: John Longenbaugh; one daughter: Jennifer (Juan) Malagon of Italy; two sons: Christopher Longenbaugh, Syracuse; Curtis Longenbaugh, Syracuse; one grandson: Aiden Malagon; and two brothers: Darwin (Kim) Freeman, Syracuse; Dale Freeman, Phoenix, Ariz.
She was preceded by her parents.
Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, at the Eastlund Funeral Home. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 7, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Syracuse Cemetery.
There will be a gathering at the Syracuse American Legion Post 223 following the cemetery services. Memorial contributions may be made to: Syracuse Fire/EMS.
