Mac and Cheese
The young adult book club is discussing the best recipes for making macaroni and cheese at the January book club. Teens are meeting at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5, to talk about the best books in 2015 and to make mac and cheese from basic ingredients. Young people will have a list of books from 2015 to look for trends and to guess the winners for the Printz award for best Young adult literature. Teens are encouraged to bring a friend and come hungry to the new year’s book club. Contact the Syracuse Library at (574) 457-3022 for information.
Other Treats and Meetings
The hospitality committee has been doing an outstanding job at the Friends of the Library meetings this fall. People who are interested in making the Syracuse Library a nicer place to meet and visit are invited to the monthly meeting. Each month the group reviews new ideas. The friends meet at 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 7, for an hour meeting.
The home-school group meets at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5, at 2:30 p.m. Adults can network while the children work on group tasks. A tea is served and good manners prevail. The home-school group is an informal group of local home-school parents that share ideas and resources.
The Syracuse Library usually has extra copies of the adult book club books. Decaf is served on Wednesday, Jan. 13, when ‘One Book, One Hour’ discusses “Breakfast at Sally’s.” Tea and scones is served on Thursday, Jan. 21, when Food from Fiction discusses Laura Childs and “Scones and Bones.”
