Vikings Win, Panthers Take Title
ROCHESTER – The Tippecanoe Valley boys basketball team ended 2015 on a winning note Wednesday night.
The Vikings defeated host Rochester 74-46 in the consolation game of the Winning Edge Holiday Tournament.
Valley led 22-13 after the opening period before outscoring the Zebras 19-9 in the second stanza to take control of the game.
Senior Neil Clampitt led the way for Valley with a game-high 20 points in the win over their TRC foe.
Trevor Neeley popped in 17 points and Jarod Duzenbery added 10 for the Vikings.
Alec Holland scored 16 points and Gavin Bennett 12 to lead Rochester.
Clampitt and Holland were each named to the all-tourney team for the two-day event.
Valley (3-6) plays at Northfield on Jan. 8. Rochester (1-7) plays at Lewis Cass on Jan. 4.
NorthWood continued its impressive season by blasting Fairfield 63-39 in the title game of the tourney Wednesday night.
Vinny Miranda tossed in 17 points for the Panthers, who claimed the tourney title for the third straight year. The Panthers, who rolled to a 38-21 halftime lead in the title game, improved to 10-1 on the season with their seventh straight win.
Dakiyron Fox and Luke Zurcher each had 12 points and Braxton Linville 10 for NorthWood. Linville also had six rebounds and five assists.
Shandon Miller scored 12 points and Luke Stephens 11 for the Falcons, who lost to the Panthers for the second time this season.
Miranda was named as the tourney MVP. Fox and Linville, along with Brock Goeglein of Fairfield, were named to the all-tourney team.
NorthWood and Fairfield (6-3) both return to action on Jan. 8. The Panthers will play at NLC foe Wawasee and the Falcons will host Eastside.
