LCS Seeking Help For New Dock
WARSAW – The Lake City Skiers (LCS) are seeking help to fund a new dock, which will help the ski experience on Hidden Lake in several ways.
One of the main components of the show is the main starting dock used in all shows and tournaments. The current structure was built in 2003 and while repairs have been made over the years, it has lost its structural integrity and is no longer safe for use. The main dock must be replaced before the start of the 2016 season.
The cost to the team will run between $10,000 for a wooden structure and $20,000 for an aluminum structure to meet the USA Water Ski requirements for hosting tournaments. The team is asking for community support to help fund the replacement of the main dock. Anyone wishing to help with the cost of replacement should contact the teams president Randy Patrick.
LCS is scheduled to host three tournaments in 2016, the annual City of Lakes tournament, the Central Region show ski tournament and the 16th USA Water Ski Division 2 Show Ski Nationals. The three tournaments will boost the local economy to the tune of nearly $250,000 from competing teams over the course of the summer.
In addition to hosting tournaments, LCS perform about 30 shows a year free to the public, bringing spectators from as far away as Chicago and Indianapolis beginning in June and continuing through Labor Day weekend.
The team is the only competitive and nationally-ranked show ski team in the state of Indiana and a 501c organization.
The show site is located at Hidden Lake at the intersection of US 30 and State Road 15 right behind Smith Tire in Warsaw. For more information on the team and contact information, visit their website at www.lakecityskiers.org
