Jesse E. Hochstetler
Jesse E. Hochstetler, 93, Nappanee, died Christmas morning at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Milford, where he had been a resident for five weeks. He was born July 22, 1922, in Marshall County to Eli J. and Sara (Miller) Hochstetler.
Mr. Hochstetler lived his lifetime in this area. On May 30, 1943, he married Wilma I. Slabaugh in Marshall County. He retired in 1978 from Mutschler Brothers, where he had worked for over 30 years. He then worked at Holiday Rambler-Creative Dimensions for 10 years. Mr. Hochstetler was a member of the Brethren in Christ Church in Nappanee since 1948.
Mr. Hochstetler is survived by his wife: Wilma Hochstetler; children: Paul (Randy Colburn) Hochstetler, South Bend; Esther Burdette, Charleston, S.C.; LaMar (LeAnn) Hochstetler, Nappanee; Wayne (Marilyn) Hochstetler, Fort Collins, Colo.; Shirley (James) Cox, Rosman, N.C.; Darrel (Diane) Hochstetler, Syracuse; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters: Verda Hochstetler; Ellen Chupp, both of Nappanee; Marvin Hochstetler, Middlebury; Lonnie (Verba) Hochstetler; Earl (Erma) Hochstetler, both of Nappanee; and sister-in-laws: Wilma Hochstetler, Milford; and Vera Hochstetler, Goshen. He was preceded in death by a son: Devon Hochstetler; a grandson; sisters: Sylvia Lehman; Edna Chupp; Lovina Miller; Mattie Yoder; and brothers: Glen; Willis; and Omer Hochstetler.
Family and friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29, at Thompson-Lengacher and Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee and for one hour prior to the Funeral Service which will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, at the Brethren In Christ Church in Nappanee. Rev. Jeff Williams will officiate and burial will be in Union Center East Cemetery.
