If you are serious about genealogy and want to join forces with like-minded folks, Glean Team meets the first three Wednesdays each month at 10 a.m. This group helps each other with their genealogies, shares and explores resources, and works on historical projects. New members are welcome.
In the Youth Services Department, Lapsit has been expanded to two sessions each week throughout January. Parents and their babies have a choice of 11 a.m. Wednesdays or Fridays. Geared for our youngest patrons ages birth to 24 months, Lapsit offers the opportunity to enjoy the fun of books and stories with your baby. The children sit on their parent’s or caregiver’s lap while we sing simple songs with hand motions, look at board books with brief stories, and engage in meaningful play. Parents are also provided resources for early literacy development. Each session lasts 20 minutes followed by 10 minutes of play. Pre-registration at the Youth Service Desk is required to participate.
The ever popular Crafts and Stories continues at 4 p.m. Tuesday as children in grades K-5 gather to do crafts while listening to stories for a constructive after school activity. Then from 1-2:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, LEGO Club meets for free-style building fun for ages 5-12. The LEGOs are provided, and an adult should accompany children under age 9.
Save the date, at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, for the library’s January Bash. It will be a free evening of friendship, refreshments, and comedy entertainment provided by Main on Main Comedy Improv Troupe. Mark your calendars and don’t miss the fun.
