Beaman Home Approaching Capital Campaign Conclusion
WARSAW — The Beaman Home in Warsaw exists to provide essential services to domestic abuse victims in Kosciusko County, and it does so with generous support from the community.
Recently, the Beaman Home has been nearing the final stretch for their capital campaign, which would provide a new 24-hour shelter for at-risk children and adults in Kosciusko County. Since 2012, more than $1.6 million has been raised and only $200,000 remains.
“We are very excited about the possibility of being able to finish the capital campaign soon,” said Executive Director Tracie Hodson.
In addition to the campaign, the Beaman Home runs multiple programs, including the existing 24-hour shelter, an outreach for people in the community and multiple children’s programs.
“Our programs are an ongoing expense,” Hodson said. “From utilities to labor, most of our income comes from the community. Even the most basic needs like electricity need to be paid for and we depend on the generosity of the community.”
The Beaman Home offers all of their services for free because of donations from the community. “A lot of times, the people coming into our facilities have nothing, so it is great to offer them services free of charge,” Hodson noted.
In addition to cash, the Beaman Home accepts items, such as the blankets recently donated by the Warsaw Community High School’s Thespian Troupe #5648.
“The group decided to come together and form an outreach. Last week, they brought in over 20 blankets to donate,” Hodson said.
Donations like blankets help serve the county in various ways. To donate to the Beaman home, you can send a check to PO Box 12, Warsaw. You can also call (877) 725-9363 with credit card information, or visit their website. In addition to cash and items, the Beaman Home also accepts stocks and larger assets.
