SYRACUSE — Events and programs offered by the Syracuse Public Library are as follows:
Holiday Week
The Syracuse Library is open the week of Christmas with crafts and coloring projects in the children’s and adult departments during the beginning of the week. The library is closing on Thursday, Dec. 24 and Friday, Dec. 25, but will open on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. People that are off for the week or are out of school are reminded that the library is a place that has activities besides books and movies that can be taken home.
January Book Clubs
Join a book club this winter. The evening adult book club, One Book, One Hour has announced the title for January’s discussion. Richard LeMieux has written a memoir about the 1 1/2 he spent as homeless man. “Breakfast at Sally’s” is an inspirational story about the people LeMieux met during his ordeal. Sally’s is what the homeless call the Salvation Army’s soup kitchen. The book club meets on Wednesday, Jan. 13 so please notify the Syracuse Library for assistance in getting the book.
Food from Fiction book club returns this January to read books that have recipes incorporated into the story. The first author, Laura Childs, includes recipes in all of the 36 mysteries she has written. “Scones and Bones” is the 12th book in the Teashop Mystery series and takes place in Charleston, S.C. People are encouraged to read “Scones and Bones” or any of the other stories in Childs’ teashop series. The book club meets at 1 p.m. the third Thursdays of the month to discuss the story and evaluate the quality of the recipes with food samples. Contact the Syracuse Library for information and assistance.
