Reba Arlene Smothers
Reba Arlene Smothers, 92, Warsaw, passed away at 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2015, at her home. She was born on Jan. 21, 1923, in Shinglehouse, Penn. to Andrew and Martha (Stoddard) Reynolds.
She grew up in Shinglehouse, Penn. attended high school there, and attended business college in Hammond. She was first married on April 6, 1940, to Robert McGee and then on Oct. 26, 1979, in Highland, to Wallace E. Smothers who preceded her on Oct. 9, 2002. She was a homemaker and formerly worked at East Chicago and Hammond Credit Bureaus for over 10 years. She moved to the Warsaw area 27 years ago from Schererville.
She was a member of the New Harvest Church of the Nazarene in Warsaw and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by two daughter: Sharon Hilton, Kalkaska, Mich.; and Judith (Chris) Kalajian, Schererville; nine grandchildren and step-grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter; Roberta Millikan; grandson: Dan Holloway; and great-grandson: Zach Holloway; three sisters: Maxine Slawson; Alberta Reynolds; and Roberta Reynolds; and three brothers: Raymond; Lehman; and Lyman Reynolds.
Visitation will be from 11-noon Thursday, Dec. 17, at Owen Family Funeral Home, North Webster. Funeral services will follow at noon on Thursday in the funeral home with Pastor Jeff Seaver of the church officiating. Burial will take place at 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17, in the chapel at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville.
