Dana C. Kauffman
Dana C. Kauffman, 86, Millersburg, passed away Wednesday morning, Dec. 9, 2015, at Courtyard Healthcare after an extended illness.
He was born May 25, 1929 in Clinton Township to Alvin and Alma (Showalter) Kauffman. On Oct. 9, 1954 he married Carol L. Hapner at Solomon’s Creek Church. She survives along with two sons: Gregory (Alice) Kauffman, Cromwell; and Gary (Patti) Kauffman, Millersburg; two daughters: Kimber Bickel, Nappanee; and Jennifer Kauffman, Warsaw; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister: Gladys Hershberger, Goshen. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters: Loa Miller; Jennie Pletcher; and Maxine Kauffman.
A lifelong area resident, Mr. Kauffman was a charter member of People’s Bible Church. His passion was for Hereford cattle and he was involved with his children’s and grandchildren’s beef cattle projects at the Elkhart County 4-H Fair. He served during the Korean War with the U.S. Army. A lifelong farmer, he also picked up canned milk and was a construction worker for 38 years with DJ Construction.
Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the 10 a.m. funeral service, on Wednesday, Dec. 16, at People’s Bible Church. Pastor John Randolph will officiate. Burial will follow in Solomon Creek Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to People’s Bible Church or Elkhart County 4-H Corporation.
