UPDATE: Car, Semi Accident US 30
UPDATE — Phillip J. Armey, 43, Heron Boulevard, Warsaw, suffered minor bleeding to his face and head following his 1985 Pontiac Fiero hitting the back of a semitractor-trailer Sunday morning. Armey was checked by paramedics, but refused medical treatment. The driver of the semitractor, Thomas D. Smotherman, 37, Whitney Street, Detroit, Mich., was not injured.
The accident occurred at 6:54 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, at Lake City Highway and Commerce Drive, Warsaw. Armey was eastbound on US 30, approaching the intersection with Commerce Drive. He stated he did not see that the semitractor with trailer was stopped in front of him. He believed the red lights on the trailer was the stoplight. He also stated he thought he had more distance, while approaching the stoplight, until his vehicle struck the back of the semi.
Armey was cited for operating a vehicle without financial responsibility.
Damage was estimated up to $25,000.
