Warsaw Resident Turns Home Into Animated Musical Display
WASRAW — When Warsaw resident Adam Churchill’s wife surprised him with software to create his own synchronized light show, he had no way of knowing how big his project would become.
“One day, we were on YouTube looking at the Larsons’ Christmas display and I told my wife that would be so much fun,” he said. “So, three weeks before Christmas last year, she surprised me with the computer software and said, ‘here you go.’ She never thought it would turn out this amazing. Neither did I. Better than we can imagine.”
This season, Churchill, who lives in the Northwinds subdivision north of the airport, has created an animated, family-friendly display that includes more than 20,000 lights and 100 strobes programmed to 32 channels. It takes Churchill anywhere from 12 to 16 hours to program just one song.
The display also includes a 21-foot “mega tree,” a 10-foot singing snowman and a 16-foot “Merry Christmas” sign. Churchill’s wife has also designed a night sky display on the roof of their house, complete with a star of Bethlehem.
“Most people say its amazing,” Churchill said. “I heard two people say it’s NASA Christmas lights in Warsaw. But most of all, I think most of my family members love how I program the lights with music.”
To enjoy the experience, all one needs is a radio tuned in to station 104.3. The show is from 6-10 p.m. nightly and loops through eight songs, two with funny intros, Churchill said. The week of Christmas, the display will go an extra hour, ending at 11 p.m.
Both Churchill and his wife have memories of driving around as kids to look at Christmas lights. Now, it is something they enjoy doing with their kids.
