Tim Tebow has always been my favorite athlete and celebrity. I’ve followed him since I was a kid. He won two national championships in college, he won the Heisman award for the best college football player in the country and he was a first round pick in the NFL draft.

And, while in the NFL, he produced some of the most amazing comebacks time and time again in NFL history. He even sparked a national phenomenon called Tebow Mania.

But take away all of the accolades and success for Tebow, and you have one of the most devoted Christian men the world has ever seen.

Recently, news surfaced that former Miss Universe, Olivia Culpo, broke up with Tim Tebow because he refused to have sex with her. Tebow’s reason? He has resolved to not to engage in intercourse unless he is married. What an absolute breath of fresh air and good news this is. We live in a world where all the celebrity news is about who is sleeping with who or what fallen star is going into rehab. But here is one man, firmly in the spotlight of America, who sets an incredible example for everyone.

I realize that Tebow has made his decision to stay committed to his chastity due to his Christian faith but, nevertheless, he is one man who has stood firm in his morals and his principles. He chose not to compromise, despite the immense temptation. Remember, we are talking about Miss Universe, here.

Whether you share his religious views or not, we all can admire and applaud Mr. Tebow. He made a decision and a promise to himself. He chose not to compromise. He stood by his word. I believe that is something we are lacking today in our society. We are always so focused on what will make us happy, not necessarily what is right.
