Multiple Returns To Wal-Mart Leads To Theft Charges
WARSAW — Multiple returns of items, without a receipt, to one individual raised a red flag to Wal-Mart Loss Prevention and prompted an investigation. That investigation has lead to the arrest of a Warsaw man.
Gregory W. Addair, 37, 604 E. Main St., has been arrested on charges of theft, a level 6 felony.
Wal-Mart Loss Prevention contacted police on Oct. 21 regarding thefts, which occurred between Sept. 24-Oct. 21. The store official told police while reviewing the weekly refund report she noticed multiple returns, without receipts, made by Gregory W. Addair. Through reports, surveillance video and photographs, store officials learned Addair had been purchasing merchandise using a $.74 code bar sticker he removed from another piece of merchandise. The transactions occurred in the self-checkout aisle.
According to documentation, Addair purchased: a pair of pants valued at $64; sub speaker in a box valued at $135.92 and 12-inch sub speaker valued at $89.92 on Sept. 24; rifle scope on Sept. 26, valued at $106.97; coffee maker on Sept. 29, valued at $79; binoculars on Oct. 4, valued at $69.97; Shark Rotator Sweeper on Oct. 16, valued at $318; box of tools on Oct. 19, valued at $148; and hunting blind on Oct. 21, valued at $94.98. The items totaled $1,324.73.
The surveillance video identified Addair as he returned the hunting blind and rifle scope for a full refund and given a Wal-Mart gift card.
Court documents state Addair is currently facing conversion charges in Whitley County Superior Court.
