Charles E. Underwood
Charles E. Underwood 92, Cicero, Indiana, and formerly of Fulton County, passed away at 4:29 p.m. Friday Nov. 27, 2015, at Riverview Hospital, Noblesville.
He was born on July 25, 1923, in Fort Wayne, the son of Harry B. and Blanche (Deck) Underwood.
He served with the United States Army Air Corp. during World War II.
On March 6, 1943 in Logansport, he married Delores June Wills. She preceded him in death on July 8, 2009.
Underwood was a block operator for the Pennsylvania Railroad for many years before retiring.
Survivors include his children: Suzanne and husband James Hughes, Marion; Bonnie and husband Gordon Higgins, Orange, Calif.; June Ellen and husband Ron Freeman, Westfield; Richard and wife Sue Underwood, Walnut Creek, Calif; Tom Underwood, Cicero; Lori and husband Rod Strickland, Okatie, S.C; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother: Paul Underwood, Fort Wayne; sisters: Nina and husband Bill Hoover, Plymouth; Lois Yoder, Brookston; and Janice and husband David Irven, Fort Wayne.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Hugh Underwood, Benjamin Leon Underwood, and Harry Wayne Underwood; and sisters, Alice Moring Hageman and Mary Jane Palmer.
Private services will be observed. Interment will be in Grass Creek Cemetery, Grass Creek. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project. Arrangements by Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester.
