Syracuse Man Scratches Record-making Lottery Ticket
INDIANAPOLIS — Arlen Brennaman of Syracuse is seeing gold after scratching a record-making winning lottery ticket while on a break from work in Goshen.
An employee at Forest River Inc., Brennaman said his initial reaction was complete shock after scratching off a ticket worth $7 million. He had just left the Chalet Party Shoppe on Caragana Road, Goshen, while on a break from work, but was now on his way to the record books as Hoosier Lottery’s winner of the largest prize ever offered on a scratch-off in Indiana.
When he presented his ticket to Hoosier Lottery officials Monday, Nov. 2, he had his parents, two brothers and his significant other by his side.
Brennaman said he wants to use the money to start a legacy that stays with his family for many generations. He sees winning the money as an opportunity to start a family business and continue investing to keep the money sustainable beyond the next generation.
Brennaman said winning has brought “a lot of opportunity,” to himself and his family.
Hoosier Lottery reported there are two more $7 million winners to be claimed, plus five $250,000 tickets and more than 75 prizes of $25,000 still floating around.
