Speed Limits Raised At Commissioner’s Meeting
WARSAW — Major topics during the Nov. 17 Kosciusko County Commissioner’s meeting included reimbursable grants, three local TIFs and a new speed limit on certain roads.
County Highway Superintendent Scott Tilden presented a new ordinance changing the speed limit on CR 300E between CR 1300N and CR 1000N and between CR 900N and CR 750N from 50 to 55 miles per hour. “The speed limit was passed because the roads were rough but, because of recent work, we do not think the 50 miles per hour speed limit is necessary,” Tilden said. The commissioners approved the ordinance.
Ed Rock, director of Kosciusko County Emergency Management, announced three new grants, including a $5,111 grant for emergency management performance to further public awareness of disaster management and preparedness; a $25,000 training grant for Department of Homeland Security District 2; and a third for $44,800 to cover the cost of radio upgrades in Kosciusko County. “These are all reimbursable grants,” Rock said as he closed his presentation.
County Attorney Chad Miner discussed three TIF districts. The U.S. 30 West TIF district needed a resolution approving work done so far and has already been approved by the Area Plan Commission. The full resolution will come before the county council Dec. 15. Both the Trupointe and Co-op TIFs needed “housekeeping” papers signed.
